My Webkinz Garden

naners-verdi-leggs-icon.jpg The WebkinzWizards have done it again!  They’ve stocked the W Shop’s Garden Department with Seeds, Watering Cans, Rakes, Shovels and Bushel Baskets.  Plus a new Gardening Guide so my pets can learn all about planting a Webkinz Garden!  This is the first ever Webkinz Interactive Garden and we’re so excited to get it planted.  We’ll be able to water, cultivate, tend and harvest our fruits and vegetables and then feed them to our pets!   So, Naners and Verdi Leggs scurried off to the W Shop and loaded up with several seed packs and the Garden Guide Book, some sunglasses, work boots and jeans.  Once home they started getting their first ever little garden plot ready for planting. Verdi Leggs read the Gardening Guide Book from cover to cover, then started digging in.  Once the soil was tilled and raked, Verdi Leggs planted his first seeds.  The Carrots went in first, then the Cabbage, Strawberries, Tomatoes,  Corn, Pumpkin and Watermelon.  Naners then took over and watered each plant.   Check back daily to watch as we tend to our garden and to see our Webkinz Garden grow! Day one of my garden.  Naners has just gotten done watering and Verdi Leggs, in the hammock, is tuckered out from digging and planting. My Webkinz Garden naners-verdi-leggs-icon.jpg Naners and Verdi Leggs just couldn’t wait to start gardening this morning.  They were both up bright and early, had a quick breakfast, got all their gardening tools together and started their gardening by inspecting the plants.  Verdi Leggs noticed that Naners was a busy Cheeky Monkey yesterday afternoon. After purchasing a Scarecrow at the W Shop, Naners returned to the garden and decided to move some sunflowers and transplant the cabbage along the fence so the scarecrow would be centered in the garden.  Transplanting the Cabbage will set back its growth, but it will still produce a nice crop.   Naners and Verdi Leggs have started keeping a garden journal.  Today they started by measuring each plant and jotting their findings in the journal.  “Looks like everything has begun to grow!”, Naners exclaimed with excitement in his voice.  The Pumpkin and Watermelon have grown the quickest since they are so viney.  Hope they don’t take over the garden.  “Hmmmm….maybe we should have hilled-up a patch in the garden just for the Pumpkins and Watermelons”, he though to himself. Since there was no rain overnight, the fruits and vegetables did need watering this morning, so Naners and Verdi Leggs took turns watering each plant.  So far there are no weeds, but I’m sure some raking will be needed by this weekend.  Naners and Verdi Leggs have been discussing the possibility of opening up a section of their meadow for a Community Garden, allowing neighbors to come plant seeds and reap the benefits of tasty, home-grown fruits and vegetables. Day two of my garden! Inspecting and watering are done for the day. garden2.jpg    naners-verdi-leggs-icon.jpg We had to get an early start in the Webkinz Garden this morning.  It’s very hot and humid now, so the early mornings are the best time to rake, weed and water our fruits and vegetables.  Verdi Leggs rode his Blue Wagon to the garden this morning with the hope of harvesting some vegetables.  Naners thought it was just too early for picking, but Verdi Leggs couldn’t wait to jump in his Wagon and have Naners pull him down the cowpath to the garden. As they approached the garden they could tell that all the plants were thriving and growing.  Much to his relief Naners exclaimed,  “The Rabbit didn’t eat the Carrots and the Raccoon didn’t eat the Corn!”  He  and Verdi Leggs Inspected each plant and only had to water this morning.  The garden is weed free so no raking was required today.  The plants are growing and “The Corn will be Knee-high by the 4th of July!” Verdi Leggs squealed.  Day 3 In the Garden resized-garden3.jpg  Verdi Leggs takes a closer look.  The Strawberries are blooming today!              resized-comm-gard2.jpg

Naners and Verdi Leggs What a great surprise to see Pumpkins and Watermelons ready to be harvested in the Webkinz Garden today.  Verdi Leggs was ready and waiting with his wagon and a new Webkinz stopped by to help.  Sally the Lil’ Poodle was out for her daily walk and saw all the activity in the Webkinz Garden and decided to help with the picking.  The Pumpkins and Watermelon were so heavy that Naners had to help carry them to the wagon.  They barely fit into the bushel basket.

Verdi Leggs is ready to start loading his blue wagon with Watermelons and Pumpkins on day seven.

Day Nine.  After hearing reports that Arte was going to have the Luxury Hot Tub in stock today, Naners and Verdi Leggs wanted to get an early start this morning, so they wouldn’t miss out on the sale.  They got busy right away with their chores.  They skipped off to the garden and WaLa!  “There be strawberries, cabbages and corn to harvest” : )  Naners chuckled as he tried out his best chief engineer, Scotty impersonation.  Verdi Leggs and Naners picked ripe, Farm Fresh Cabbage, Corn and Strawberries; enough to make The Green Giant jealous!  Once back home they husked the corn and got it ready for blanching and cutting for the freezer.  The strawberries were washed and mashed for jam and the cabbage was shredded for Sauerkraut.  They put in a full day all before noon!
